Commissioned by the Akropolis Reed Quintet in 2012 by composer Jason Turbin, “Morse Code,” takes a literal approach to the Unraveled prompt with each musician contributing a small rhythmic fragment before the complete construct is audible. Over this accompaniment, Turbin lays his trademark melodic writing, influenced by his works as a Los Angeles-based film composer.
